Dufferin Coaching Inn is playing its part in promoting of small local businesses during the Christmas season as part of the Federation of Small Businesses’ (FSB) ‘shop small and shop local’ campaign.

Taking place on the first Saturday of December each year, Small Business Saturday encourages consumers throughout Northern Ireland to support their small, local traders when searching for the perfect Christmas gifts. Now in its sixth year, the campaign celebrates the idea of the value small firms contribute to Northern Ireland’s economy.

Local MLAs were asked by FSB to nominate local businesses within their constituencies to showcase the variety of grassroots business in Northern Ireland.

Representing Killyleagh, following a visit from Ulster Unionist MLA Mike Nesbitt, Dufferin’s owner and operator Leontine Haines said, “In addition to providing award-winning hospitality to visitors from around the world, I have the real opportunity to serve up the best of Northern Ireland’s local produce. I shop daily at my local grocers and butchers, and guests have grown savvy enough to demand local when staying at Dufferin. If consumers don’t support local business then it disappears, along with the communities it supports.”

Show your support for Small Business Saturday today by tweeting with the hashtag #SmallBizSatUK and gifting a stay at Dufferin Coaching Inn this holiday season!
